Stitched from Struggle: The Stories Behind Our First Drop

🧠 Every Stitch Was a Thought You Didn’t Say Out Loud

We didn’t just design shirts.
We designed feelings you’ve been trying to hide.
And we stitched them in a way that lets you wear what you can’t always explain.

In this post, we’re breaking down the meaning behind the first 3 pieces from 1in4’s drop—so you know what you're actually putting on your chest.

👕 1. Self-Doubt Panelled Shirt

Theme: Split identity. Inner conflict. Quiet questioning.

The Self-Doubt shirt was designed to feel like contradiction.

  • The panelled layout represents how self-doubt often splits you into two:

    • The version that shows up.

    • The version that overthinks every move.

  • Asymmetry mirrors internal imbalance. You look fine, but you’re not aligned.

  • The messaging is subtle. Because self-doubt doesn’t shout—it whispers at the worst moments.

“Did I say too much?”
“Should I have tried harder?”
“What if I’m not enough?”

This shirt doesn’t fix those thoughts.
It just holds them honestly—until you’re ready to let go.

🌊 2. Anxiety Shirt – Drowning in High Functioning

Theme: Anxiety paralysis. Smiling on the outside, sinking on the inside.

We built this shirt around a girl who’s drowning in her own mind—not visibly, but emotionally.

  • The graphic features her face partially submerged.
The part above water? Calm. Perfect. Performing.
The part below? Frozen in panic.

  • It represents high-functioning anxiety—a condition where you seem fine, but inside you’re battling:

    • Overthinking every text

    • Relying on control to avoid collapse

    • Wanting to scream but sending smiley emojis instead

  • The artwork is fluid, fragile, and haunting—just like the feeling.

This shirt says:

“Even if I look okay, I’m still trying not to drown.”
And that deserves space too.

🧘♂️ 3. Resilience Shirt – Chaos in Line Work

Theme: Inner calm. Outer chaos. Staying grounded.

This shirt is about the discipline of not giving up—even when life gets loud.

  • The design uses a line-drawn monk’s face—serene, calm, unwavering.

  • Around him? Scribbled, raw chaos—the mental clutter, social pressure, and constant noise.

But the lines never touch his face.
Because even when the world screams, he’s still centered.

This isn’t toxic positivity.
This is resilience:

“I’m tired. But I’m still standing.”

👁️ Why We Do It This Way

We don’t just want to sell shirts.
We want to sell a moment where someone finally feels seen.

Designing for mental health is tricky.
You’re balancing:

  • Relatability without romanticizing pain

  • Depth without overcomplicating

  • Honesty without making it all about struggle

So we landed here:
Art that says what words often can’t.

🧵 Final Thread

These shirts aren’t trends.
They’re therapy in fabric form—but without pretending to be a cure.

They’re daily reminders that:

  • You’re allowed to doubt yourself

  • You’re allowed to feel overwhelmed

  • You’re allowed to keep going, even imperfectly

And now, you’re allowed to wear that truth out loud.
